On February 11, 2017, the Holy Father entrusted Archbishop Henryk Hoser, SAC, Bishop of Warsaw-Prague (Poland), to go to Medjugorje as a special envoy of the Holy See.

 

The mission aims to acquire a deeper knowledge of the pastoral situation and, above all, of the needs of the faithful who go on pilgrimage and, on the basis of this, propose possible pastoral initiatives for the future. Therefore, the mission will have an exclusively pastoral character.

The mission of the Apostolic Visitor has the purpose of accompanying in a stable and continuous way the faithful pilgrims, reports the Communiqué of the Press Office of the Holy See.

This May 31, 2018, the Holy Father Francis has appointed HE Msgr. Henryk Hoser, SAC , Archbishop-Bishop Emeritus of Warsaw-Prague (Poland), Apostolic Visitor of special character for the parish of Medjugorje for an indefinite time and ad nutum Sanctae You are . This is reported in a statement by the Press Office of the Holy See.

 

It is an exclusively pastoral assignment in continuity with the mission of Special Envoy of the Holy See for the parish of Medjugorje, entrusted to Bishop Hoser on February 11, 2017 and concluded by him in recent months.

 

The mission of the Apostolic Visitor - affirms the statement - aims to ensure a stable and continuous accompaniment of the parish community of Medjugorje and of the faithful who go on pilgrimage, whose demands require special attention.

 

In short, all the Catholic faithful can freely make pilgrimages and organize pilgrimages to Medjugorje, and the accompaniment of priests on these pilgrimages is recommended for the spiritual care proper to any pilgrimage.
